The multi-parade award winning ethel yarwood enterprises is again entering in the 2009 Mardi Gras. This year we are planning to stage: "Surry Hillsong - Come into the Light" Using this theme we are to represent the all-encompassing community values of "diversity, respect and inclusion". Our mission statement is to achieve a world with the DENOMINATIONS UNITED. The group is comprised of DJ Mark Alsop as his representation of "God" spinning discs from heaven’s console in the sky, atop a representation of a ‘religiou$’ multimedia empire. The Surry Hillsong bus is involved to transport believers from the parade Start Area near Central Station to the place of worship, our sister multimedia empire ‘Jox Studios’. Having the bus will enable those in the community who cannot walk the parade route to participate in Surry Hillsong. One hundred to 200 believers will make a choreographed pilgrimage in costume. Each worshipper has been responsible for creating a costume of his/her choice. This costume is related to any religious reference - for example Christian, Shinto, Catholic, Hindu, Buddhist, Mormon, Catholic, Muslim, a cult or a famous/infamous religious character. And we would like to see some SECTS in the parade this year! DIRTY, SECTSY DENOMINATIONS. The costumes have designed around each pilgrims budget and sensibilities. Therefore they will be a diverse range of extravagant, reverential, cheeky and $2 Variety Store "cheap and cheery" outfits. Anything religious is possible. Groups of friends participating around their own theme will also be participating. For example the greek/roman gods, a choir, satanic rituals and scientology. For further insight into the concept, take a listen to the parade audio and a look at the parade choreography. And marvel at a fantastic video: A 20 year retrospective of Mardi Gras parade entries from ethel yarwood enterprises which illustrates the growth, standard and wit of our work. This was compiled by Ian Gordon of Atlas Worx. Thanks Ian!!!! Also you can refer to:
