email to DV8 organisers

James,

I attended the DV8 function on 5th April at the Dendy Martin Place.   I would like to relate to you two unfortunate incidents in the hope that these issues can be dealt with to make DV8 a better experience.

Firstly I'll broach the least contentious.  I thought the cloak room was very poorly run.   I understand it was better than the first party but the attendant actually threw my bag at me when I collected it and there was items lost from my bag that were securely sealed in the bag.

The second is rather more contentious.  My friend was asked to leave the club by the Dendy management for apparently inappropriate offensive behaviour.   He was merely CONSENTUALLY putting his hands down the pants of his dance partner.  I have also heard of other patrons who were asked to leave for seemingly similar infractions.

If you are advertising your club as such:

"The aim for our event is to present a new and exciting mix of possibilities, whether you're into leather, rubber, gothic, bondage, uniforms, underwear or just plain old boots!   If you are a gay man, lesbian, kinky hetro or bi we want you all to feel welcome in this pan-sexual atmosphere with the knowledge that your boundaries will be respected.   Events are multi-faceted and work on a variety of levels, providing something for everyone.   Fusing the fetish scene and connecting elements from alternative underground sub-culture."

and...

"The DV8 dress code strives to avoid narrow limitations encouraging individuals to be aware of there (sic) bodies and sexuality, exploring personal fantasies and the pleasures of the flesh."

I would not expect that this sort of behaviour would warrant expulsion from the club.

Thank you for your time and I await your response.

Yours sincerely,
Kabi
(UN Weapon Inspector)
